Gabrielle is another polish from the May 2013 Julep collection. She is part of the Bombshell selection and is described as a “Smoky mulberry crème”. I would say that’s pretty accurate — Gabrielle is the warmer of the two darker purples from this month’s collection, and ‘smoky’ is a perfect way to describe the subdued, mature colour. There is no sparkle or shimmer, only pure, rich pigment. You can also grab Gabrielle directly from the Julep website.
Gabrielle is one of those Julep polishes with fantastic pigment and coverage — this shade was nearly opaque with one coat, and the second coat just deepened the colour and gloss to a perfect application. It went on smoothly and with zero streaking or pooling along the edges. This type of polish lends itself to some medium-to-heavy application with one or two coats, in my opinion — it self-levels and smooths out over the nail, so it is very forgiving as a quick manicure.
Wear-wise, it’s consistent with all of Julep’s May 2013 formulas, which have been excellent. It dried quickly and was very glossy — all of these photos are taken without a top coat, just to highlight how glossy and smooth Gabrielle was on my nails. It isn’t the most seasonally appropriate polish for summer, but it is going to look lovely as we move into the colder months!
